Product Description

The third thrilling adventure thriller featuring archaeologist Nina Wilde, in which Nina must find Excalibur, King Arthur’s beloved sword.

Said to make whoever holds it unstoppable in battle, the sword Excalibur has been coveted across the ages, and thought lost for over a thousand years. With a cryptic message to archaeologist Nina Wilde, this may be about to change.

Historian Bernd Rust believes he can locate Excalibur... and that the sword is the key to harnessing an incredible source of energy. Nina is sceptical – until she and Rust are attacked by mercenaries determined to steal his research.

Nina and her boyfriend, ex-SAS soldier Eddie Chase, are soon propelled into a deadly race to find Excalibur. From the deserts of Syria to the arctic wastes of Russia, Nina and Chase must battle a merciless enemy who plans to use the sword’s powers to plunge the world into a new era of war...

Customer Reviews

Excellent Excalibur!5
Andy's third book is another belter. It's more character driven than his previous two although there is still plenty of action and set pieces.

We see a more human side to Chase as he trys to come to terms with who he is and why he does what he does. There's interesting conflict between him and Nina and also with his family. Nice to see these new charcters introduced. Eddie's grandmother will make you laugh out loud.

The baddies are all suitably evil and the story is extremely interesting. The legend / myth of King Arthur is explored deeply and you'll be surprised at what's real and what isn't.

As usual, there's also lots of humour amongst the action. A big lorry has just been taken by Eddie and his exit line is, "Let's truck off". If you can't laugh at that then maybe you should check your pulse to see if you're alive.

As action / adventure books go this is another superb effort. Andy knows want he wants and what his readers want and he delivers in style.

Thanks again, Andy!

Another Winner from Andy McDermott5
Yet again a really fantastic book, the third in this series. It is very difficult to put this book down once you have started it. Full of action and adventure from start to finish. A really cracking read.Roll on the publication of the next book in the series:- The Covenant of Genesis.

The Secret of Excalibur4
Another rollicking adventure tale from McDermott involving his two usual characters, an archaeologist and an ex-SAS man (and if you can believe that you can believe anything). The actual object of the quest is well-researched (as it was in his previous two books) and the story is well written and certainly moves along with a lot of pace, and a lot of violent encounters between the various factions. However, my giving it 4 rather that 5 stars is because of the gung-ho nature of all the encounters. It always comes as a huge surprise when the opposition catches up and then the fights are just free-for-alls with luck usually deciding who wins. This free-roaming group of opponents seem to be able to enter any country armed to the teeth and attack any location wherever it is. There isn't the feeling of real nastiness and danger you tend to get from some of the situations (say) in an early James Bond novel.
However, it is an easy read and very well written and should delight his many fans.
