Customer Reviews
Excellent
Unlike the precious reveiwer, ive actually read this.
O'reilly picks up on the current battle between what he calls "culture warriors" (People who beleive in traditional values) And secular progressives. People who beleive the western world is a bad place and should undergo major changes.
Oreilly points out many "battles" in the culture war. Such as in Xmas when stores prevented their employees from wishing happy christmas and making them wish happy holidays. Traditionalists rallied and in 2006 the stores (like wal-mart) backed down and allowd their employees to say what they want to say to customers.
He also talks about the ACLU and the effect they have on the country. Pushhing through secular progressive agendas via the courts rather then the ballot box, because according to oreilly, the majority of americans dont agree with them.
And I can see why. I dont think most americans agree with their underage daughters being able to have abortians on demand without their knowlage, not ebing able to check up on who their children talk to, that our military should be scaled down and that religion should be removed completely from society, except at home.
A good book highlighten a conflict which many sense but few are able to define. A good starting point.
War for America
This book is very well written. Mr. O'Reilly has put into words the culture war that has been taking place in the U.S.A. This culture war is between what Mr. O'Reilly terms "Traditionalist" who think over-all the U.S.A. is a great country that has made some mistakes and the "Secular-Progressives" (S-P) who seem to hate everything the U.S.A. is known to stand for and what drastic change at any cost. It seems that the main focus of the S-P is to eliminate God and any and all morals.
Mr. O'Reilly pulls no punches in this book. Naming names in both sides of the conflict. And he backs his point of view on he S-P's with direct quotes. The author presents a strong case and shows that this is not a war that is based on political affiliation. This cultural war has spilled over into the war on terror. With the S-P's actually putting all Americans at risk.
The book is an entertaining and fast read. From what I can see, many of the negative reviews are written solely because they disagree with the man, instead of on the content, research and writing style, i.e. Book Review. I recommend that everyone read this book. Especially if you think your children will live in the same America you grew up in.
Good stuff
If you are familiar with the TV program "O'Reilly Factor" you know what you get when you read this book. The author makes an effort to present his arguments in a straightforward man-of-the-street way, but you can guess there is a lot of study behind it. Arguments are quite classic-traditional, although some points the author makes are quite interesting, such as the mainly traditionalist soul of the black community in the US. O'Reilly has done a great job unmasking the radical leftist nature of a number of so called civil liberty advocacies. O'Reilly's only unpalatable opinion for the traditional reader is his stand in favor of gay adoption.
