x-cellent5
When i picked up this up, i was blown away, the art work is stunning, the stories exciting, exellent, well planned and thought provoking. I would not only recommend this to any x-men fan but a fan of graphic novels. The XSE kicks off with a bang or a baseball game with the xavier institute, followed by terrorists missions and a two pronged attack by the FURY, then viper returns with a deadly mission, this book links and sets up the story line of the next book; the crulest cut ie the new hellfire club. The XSE team consistes of Cannonball (Sam Gutheir), Storm (ororo Munroer), Marvel Girl (Racheal Summers), Sage (Tessa), Wolverine (Logan), Bishop (Lucuas Bishop), Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner). Some of the costumes like Cannonball's look really corney but Sages, Marvel Girls, Sage's and Bishops make up for it with their stylish, colourful look.
This book is a must have for any marvel fan and is well worth the price.

dated.2
I grew up reading Chris claremonts original run on X-Men, so its dissapointing to read such a poor and unimaginative take on the X-men. I was looking for something to fill the gap between New X-men and Astonishing X-men, but this clearly isn't it. THis just seems so tame by comparison, it's clearly aimed at a younger age group but you'd need a degree in X-men lore to fully understand what is going on. The only thing that seperates this from his work 20 odd years ago is the artwork. It may of worked as a monthly but as a collection this just seems so dated. I bought the second one too (Fool) and it doesnt get any better.
