Good Games Designer, Poor Author
I tend to by every new Forgotten Realms novel released. However, based on the quality of several that have been published recently I think I am going to cut back.
The novels protaganist is Raidon Kane, a monk, who previously apppeared in Stardeep by Bruce R. Cordell. However, it is set a eleven years on from that novel after the Spellplague. Kane's family have passed away so he focuses on fighting abominations to give his life meaning and thereby becomes entangled in a fight against an undersea beast trying to take over the world...
Frankly, the novel is just dull. I slogged through to get moneys worth but didn't get any enjoyment from it. Give this one a miss. I wish someone else had written this review so I could take advantage of it.
Recent Forgotten Realms novels that I do recommend are Rich Bakers Blades of The Moonsea Trilogy and Paul S. Kemps Erevis Cale series. The rest of the novels are just plain bad.
