Provocative insights on leadership from a "who′s who" of leadership thought including: Tom Peters, Charles Handy, and Jim Kouzes
A stellar cast of the world′s foremost leadership gurus comes together in one place to offer their thoughts on leadership in the new economy. Edited by renowned leadership expert Warren Bennis, the book addresses issues that Bennis identifies as the ones that "keep CEOs up at night", including why we tolerate bad leaders, why leadership is everyone′s business, and how ethics will play into new leadership. With contributions from Charles Handy, Tom Peters, Barry Posner, Jim Kouzes, and Warren Bennis–as well as from such young entrepreneurs as Michael Klein and Tara Church–no other book includes the caliber of authors and the range of thinking found in The Future of Leadership.
Warren Bennis (Santa Monica, CA) is University Professor and Distinguished Professor of the Marshall School of Business. He is the author of nineteen books, including the bestselling Leaders (coauthored with Burt Nanus) and On Becoming a Leader. Gretchen M. Spreitzer (Pacific Palisades, CA) is Assistant Professor at USC Marshall School of Business and a faculty affiliate of both the Center for Effective Organizations and the Leadership Institute. Thomas Cummings (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) is Dean of USC′s Marshall School of Business.

From the Inside Flap
The Future of Leadership presents nineteen original chapters from a stellar group of scholars and experts–including Bennis himself–who represent the leading thinkers in management today, as well as some of the newest up–and–coming leaders. This seminal work reveals their collective wisdom and candid speculations about the future of leadership and the new economy. Leadership experts such as Charles Handy, Tom Peters, Edward Lawler, Jim Kouzes, and Barry Posner, as well as young Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, present their valuable insights into the challenges leaders are likely to face as the new millennium unfolds. They examine an array of timely questions about leadership such as: Why do we tolerate bad leaders? Why is leadership everyone′s business? How will ethics play into new leadership? And how does the new economy influence leadership? Whether in the private or public sectors, both new and seasoned executives and administrators will find this stimulating book to be a provocative and insightful read, one valuable for their own understanding and professional development. Researchers and academics who study organizations and leadership will use the book as a rich source of issues for future inquiry and a confirmation or challenge to their own speculations about the future of leadership. Acclaimed leadership exponents in a single volume!
This collection of works from world leaders in leadership commentary is a must read. It provides an excellent introduction to the topic as well as setting the subject on its path into the future. I have since bought texts by various authors who contributed and I have never been disappointed. If you want to be a leader of the future then buy this text and then cherry pick as I did the authors who most inspire you - the danger is that this will turn out to be quite expensive!!! A definite 5 star text.
Glorius collaboration from commentators on leadership
The future of leadership is an ever changing and movable feast. Here the world's leading exponents on the subject give their insights into what the future has in store and how we must all embrace change if we are not to be left behind. As a tribute to Warren Bennis it is a text of great poignancy, easy to read and a perfect introduction to several great authors in their own right. I have bought several further books on related subjects as a result.
