Review
While it is a delight simply to look at and read, the message for headteachers is that the idea of 'edible education' - learning about food from seed to harvest and eventually to kitchen and mouth - can be transplanted to any school, anywhere, and has a positive impact on children's health, attitude and behaviour. --Leadership Focus, March/April 2009

Real learning outside of the classroom
This book acts as an inspiration to all those looking at learning in their schools and wondering 'where to next?'. What started out as an attempt to improve the bleak school grounds of a run down Californian High School ends up being an integrated and holistic approach to learning and health for all children in the school. Alice Waters shows, with the help of many wonderful photos, just what can be achieved when the will and vision is there.
