Complex thriller with a real flavour of fear4
Caitlin Montgomery from an old Southern family wakes one morning to find her bedroom covered in blood; her estranged husband dead and very little memory of 'the night before'.
although there are several deaths throughout the novel the pace is not rushed, if anything it's fairly slow but with a superb build in the tension surrounding Caitlin, her family and the new psychologist in town Adam.
We meet a vast array of characters through the book and each has a distinct personality cleverly drawn by Ms Jackson and enabling the sometimes complex plot to be followed more easily.
There are several chunks of the book concerning Caitlin and an internal monologue - which instead of being tedious are tense and honest bringing your empathy for her to the fore.
Not a sexy book and though its a fluent read it's not something you can skim through.
I enjoyed it, hadn't got a clue who the 'baddie' was but I found it a slower pace than her other books I've read. If you like her style of writing you'll enjoy it and it's worth a read. You might want to keep the light on and switch off the phone though - you never know who could come knocking!

Absolutley brilliant !!!4
I found this book quite slow to start with and if this was the first book I had read by lisa Jackson I may not have finished it. Instead knowing how brilliant her other books are I perservered and I was not disappointed. This book has so much mystery and suspense that in the end I finished the last 100 or so pages in one go as I could not put it down.
The slow start is forgiven for the super middle and ending.
I can't wait to start the next book, the morning after.
