Saturday was a normal day. People went shopping. To the movies. Everything was just as it should be. But not for long. By Sunday, civilisation was in ruins. Adults had become murderously insane. One by one they became infected with a crazed, uncontrollable urge to slaughter the young - even their own children. Especially their own children. Will this be the way the world ends, in waves of madness and carnage? What will be left of our world as we know it? And who, if anyone, will survive? Terror follows terror in this apocalyptic nightmare vision by one of the most powerful talents in modern horror fiction. Prepare yourself for mankind's final days of fear.

An Excellent End-of-the-World Novel!
Very memorable, horrific novel about the end-of-the-world, when all adults suddenly go crazy and turn on their offspring, killing everyone under the age of 18. Book follows the travails of the survivors, as they gradually realize the seriousness of the situation and establish new communities, fighting off the growing masses of adults, who are acting in concert, like flocks of birds. There's plenty of bloody, gory violence in this book, as well as grim, nihilistic attitudes. In a way, Clark was just gearing up for the similarly-themed _King Blood_, though I'd love to read a sequel to _Blood Crazy_ some day. Worth the trouble and time required to track down!
Good book, could have been great.
First off, if you're thinking of reading this book and haven't, you should. Clark's superb storytelling makes it well worth the read. At times however, I found his writing to be forced and almost laughable. It was like he would try too hard to paint the picture, not giving the reader the chance to interpret his ideas. As a reader i like to fill in the blanks, less can be more. It almost seemed like he didn't use an editor, or didn't give the editor proper rewriting authority.
Bottom line, for everything i didn't like about the book, Clark more than balanced out with his fantastic style of storytelling. The man is obviously a genius, and with a better editor this could have easily made the list of my top 10 books. Clark really delivers the goods for such an outlandish plot; you'll be missing out if you decide not to check out this book.
Essential
The title of my review sums my opinion up. This is an essential read for any fan of zombie/survivor horror. It's well written with great pace which is hectic till the end with only one exception when a character is trying to explain something which seemed to drag on and on and on. Other than that one tiny niggle this is a story which I enjoyed every page of and felt awful when I finished it despite the great ending.
Blood Crazy has gone to the top of my zombie esque horror list and will remain there for a good long time it simply is a shining example of how this area of horror is critically overlooked.
I only have one regret about it and that's I wish I had read it 10 years ago when I was the same age as the main character that would have really sealed it for me. If you're on the fence or unsure about this book don't be I went as far as tracking a copy down on eBay from the States just to read this and it was worth every penny and every second spent searching.
