Synopsis
The aim of this reference is to bridge the gap between complicated technical theory, which sometimes seems to have little relevance to practical work and "cat and dry" method which may bring success in design but have the experimenter unfulfilled. There is therefore, a strong practical bias, tedious and higher mathematics have avoided where possible and many tables have been included, partly to sever calculation and partly because actual figures bring a greater intimacy with the design process. Yet for those in technical studies have found difficulty or in common with most other people have lapses of memory, there is plenty of help and revision. As a reference book, sections have been written to be as self-contained as possible. The book is divided into six basic sections: units and constants, direct current circuits, passive components, alternation current circuits, networks and theorems, measurements.

Buy it!
A brilliant and well written book.
It is clear that the author thoroughly understands the subject matter, both technically, mathematically, and intuitively.
The book can be "dipped" into, but it is worthwhile to read it cover-to-cover, and work through some/all of the (many) examples. Doing so will increase your understanding of certain fundamentals, and thus increase your intuition with regards to electronics.
This book is great for learning from, and brushing up on stuff previously learnt. The book also makes for a great "sounding-board" when working on real-life electronics problems.
Further, the book is a great example of technical writing well done.
I highly recommend this book to both students and engineering/technician professionals.
Since the book is such great value for money, it is worthwhile buying two copies of the book - one for the bookshelf at home, and one for the desk/lab at work. I have done this.
If you find that you frequently end up taking your desk/lab copy with you on your commute home, and then forget to take it back to work the next working day, then you may need to buy a third copy for your commute bag :-)
Remember to buy the companion volume to "BP144 Further Practical Electronic Calculations and Formulae (BP)".
