The Most Comprehensive Book Written on the Federal Reserve
This book is without a doubt the best book written on the "Federal" Reserve (which is about as "federal" as Federal Express). The book's four chapters explaining what money is (and isn't!) are the best I have ever read (and that includes the late, great economist Murray Rothbard's "What Has Government Done to Our Money"). My only qualm with this book is that Mr. Griffin should have left out the "C" word (i.e., conspiracy) from the text. He should just tell the history of the "Fed" along with his excellent economic analysis and let the reader figure out for him or herself what is going on. It becomes difficult to recommend this book to anybody outside of the John Birch Society (for which Mr. Griffin is a writer). But all in all, Mr. Griffin has done an admirable job. This is the true story of the monstrosity we affectionately call "The Fed" -- not like that Establishment whitewash on the "The Fed" by Rolling Stone writer William Greider called "Secrets of the Temple." For those of you who are skeptical about reading Mr. Griffin's long tome, you might want to start with Murray Rothbard's much shorter "The Case Against the Fed," before moving on to the Griffin work.
Excellent book, but.......
This book is an absolute must read if you want to understand how money works and is controlled within the context of modern society. It really opened my eyes.
At the beginning, I was concerned that Griffin was simply spouting a bunch of conspiracy theory. However, he supports his claims with a lot of factual evidence that simply cannot be ignored unless you've chosen to be stick your head in the sand about the potential injustices that exist in the world today. Many of his claims are manifesting themselves in the present day, as well. The European Union, the increasing strength and presence of NATO, the IMF, and the World Bank. All moves toward one-world socialism.
My caution to all new readers is that the book can become depressing to read at times. Kudos to Griffin for warning us about that early on in his introduction. A lot of the information you find contained within these pages is not necessarily stuff you want to hear or believe. Griffin also seems a bit pessimistic regarding future predictions. The eventual collaspe of modern society as we know it is ultimately in the hands of God, not the members of the CFR - make no mistake about that.
The most important book I have ever read.
This book will open your eyes to the fact that our government is not the warm and friendly thing that the evening news makes it out to be. As Americans, we are very optimistic, and often this is helpful for our sanity and survival. There are times, however, when our sense of outrage is too much. This is the effect the book had on me. The collusion of forces (both knowing and willing, and the duped) described in this book is a real threat to our constitutional republic, freedom, and ability to prosper. The notion that the current tax economy and inflated currency is "normal", speaks to the severity of the problem, the lengths to which the powerful have covered their tracks, and the inability of the common man to see past the propaganda. Thank God for Mr. Griffin, for his courage to put his life in danger. There are many powerful and wealthy people who do not want the truth known. I would suggest that those who liked this book share it with others, and educate yourself in the law. Look under the hood of other widely misunderstood government agencies such as Social Security and IRS. The pattern is disturbing. Also, read the constitution, and share it with your friends, family, and neighbors. Our founding fathers gave us the protection we needed to live as free people. We have ignored the written law, given the corrupt politicians free reign, and there appears to be no end in sight. This book can properly educate, and this is the only way to turn around our corrupt money and tax system.
Shame on Clint from Orlando FL (The only reviewer not giving 5 stars). Beware of propaganda from those with a vested interest.
