How do you tell if a cheese is ripe? What would you ideally serve with Caerphilly? Should you store cheese in cling film? And how can you present it as a final flourish to a dinner party in an appealing and eye-catching manner?
Answers to these questions and more form the basis of this book. Within these pages we hope to bring to light the story of cheese in all its mystery-shrouded glory. If you're one of the people - like us - who have been intrigued by this versatile and wonderful product but been too afraid to ask, this is the book for you. Our aim in writing this has been to strip away all the complexity and formality that seems to come with the topic and take a light-hearted yet informative approach instead.
After all, why should this subject provoke such fear in us? What justification can there possibly be for hiding it away and reserving it only for those deemed knowledgeable enough to serve it? This we cannot answer - however, in writing the book we hope to prove that cheese should not be viewed in such a terrifying light and can be enjoyed by anyone with an interest in it.
And there's more. This book focuses on cheeses produced solely in the UK. The reason behind this is to try and demonstrate to you that it is not simply France and Italy that deserve all the recognition for producing fine cheeses. It's about time the UK was put on the map for doing so too. Having read this and tasted some of our recommendations for yourself, we hope you'll agree!

Customer Reviews
Great for Dinner Parties!!
I brought this book with a view to learning enough about creating a good cheese board to impress my friends (and my Boss!) at a dinner party I was hosting.
The book is easy to read, clear and consise, with great recommendations for wine and accompaniments to all the cheeses featured. My dinner guests were amazed at the selections I made, and were very, very pleased with the cheeses.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about Cheese, and who would appreciate an informal, unpretentious guide.
Excellent!
A must read for British cheese lovers!
This is a great book for anyone who wants to know about the various tastes and textures of the best British cheeses.
