Editorial Reviews
From the Publisher
A beautiful book, passionately written. In the words of Daisy's veterinary surgeon, who writes the foreword for this book: "I believe anyone who loves their pet will identify with so much in this account. For those who have not experienced the wonderfully consistent relationship one can have with a pet, I would urge them to read about Daisy."
From the Author
This book was written with the intention of sharing the tremendous pleasure and happiness Daisy gave us during her lifetime. But it is also intended to illustrate the vast wealth of knowledge, help and support that is available from the various professionals and companies which exist to serve the pet-owner. From mainstream veterinary care through complimentary therapies and mobility aids, 'For the Love of Daisy' expresses our gratitude to everyone who played a part in Daisy's life.
From the Back Cover
'For the Love of Daisy' is a true story, a story of love, determination, courage and inventiveness. It concerns a beautiful, fun-loving and mischievous Dalmatian who, at the age of ten, was found to be suffering from disc disease. But Daisy was a unique and special dog who did not want to give up on life, and her owners found that they could not give up on her either.
Between the pages of this book lies a truly compelling story a story every animal lover will be touched by. Interwoven with Daisy's determined fight for recovery are tales from her life and the lives of those who cared so deeply about her. Enhanced by photographs, 'For the Love of Daisy' is a tribute to a great-hearted dog as well as those who spend their lives in the service of animals and their owners.
Heart-warming and inspiring, this book is a must-have for any animal lover.
Customer Reviews
One of the most moving books you will ever read
It is not often a book makes me laugh out loud (literally) as well as making me cry (profusely). Not only is this a haunting and heart-rending true story, but it is also extremely well written. Thankfully, it avoids being a story about a 'cuddly-wuddly doggy and her perfect pet owner'. Instead it shows a real and very human struggle with what it is like to cope with a disabled dog and with life in general. Since reading it I hug and pet my dogs more often, while giving thanks that, so far at least, I have not been called on to make the choices that the author had to face. In spite of the sad elements of the story, this is one of the most uplifting books I've ever read.
For the Love of Daisy
This is a marvellous piece of non-fiction and every pet owner should read this story. Daisy is a very special dog diagnosed with a debilitating disease, and the story tells us of her fight against the rigours of this disease, with a spirit and determination only matched by her owners' strength and commitment. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever felt the love of a pet. Read this and pass it on to a friend.
For the Love of Daisy
All animal lovers will appreciate and understand the many emotions that flow from the pages of this wonderful book. From the joy of welcoming Daisy to the family, to the many adventures she had along the way, to the heartache and difficult decisions made on her behalf and to the final sadness of her departure. Her story is told with such open honesty you can not help but become involved in her life and in those of the people around her. With the added bonus of great colour photographs capturing many of the milestones in her life it's a great book!
