An indispensible reference
This book has hikes listed no where else. It is current, well written and organized and I'm glad I read it before I went. The hikes were true to their descriptions, so were the snorkeling pools and beach walks. Kauai can't really be understood properly without knowing it's history and customs. This book conveyed it well and made me appreciate what I was seeing. I recommend this book highly.

Highly recommended
We used this guide exclusively for our two week holiday. The format is simple and direct and without it we would have been quite lost. No wonder all the local bookstores there recommend it. We never had a dull moment. This book packs a punch!

Deserves an award for excellence
By far the best and most well researched book for this island. We just returned from our first holiday there and luckily were handed this book by our hotel host. The book is organized by regions and contains walks and treks that we would have never discovered on our own. The authors take all the guesswork out of decision making and are also experts in the field of history and local lore. This is not your typical sterile guidebook. It was fascinating reading and pointed us in the right direction expertly and clearly. Whether you're a sun worshipper and are looking for the clearest pools to snorkel or prefer dizzying mountain perches this is the book to get. Defintely a five star rating.
