Great Book - Very Tongue & Cheek Humor Too
I recently returned from 2 weeks on the Garden Island and we used this book extensively. The humor and the "local" flair made it a great guidebook. It really told you what was worth your time and what wasn't, while also providing some good humor. The only thing I didn't agree with was the fascination with "Shave Ice". They had a whole section on it and made it sound like it was the greatest invention since sliced bread. At their recommendation, we tried some, but were very disappointed. It's just another fancy name for a snow cone, and overpriced. Stick to Lappert's Ice Cream. I highly recommend this book for either the new or returning (which we were) visitor to Kauai.

The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: Kauai Revealed
I have recently been on honeymoon in Kauai and took this guidebook everywhere with me. The content of this book is fantastic and every little thing is covered from the best places to eat (campside Grill burgers!! and pie! to die for) and the best trips to go on.

We did the helicopter tour which they recommend that they take off the doors on, fantastic, the only diffence is you are now not allowed to change places on the way back. Which means you need to ask to go in the front seats.

We went to a few of the recommended eating establishments and all were spot on. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who is visiting this beautiful island.

Even the Hawaiians love this book!
This book is a fabulous tavel tool. It is very easy to read and communicates to the average middle class traveler such as myself. We even found this book in Hotel rooms. Everyone of the recommedations we followed were right on the mark. I also have Frommers Hawaii and Fodors Hawaii, and neither of them compare. Where these other books were useful, this one really spoke to me. It is very light, fun and matter of fact.They don't mess around and they give you what you need to make your trip a wonderful experience. There are some terrific things in Kauai that I would have missed had it not been for this delightful book. I highly recommend it!
