In this extraordinary book Dr. Wayne Dyer explains how to connect to the knowledge and understanding that we had in the spirit realm before we chose to incarnate in physical form. From this all knowing place of spirit; we choose our physical body, our parents and the nature of the life we would lead on the earth. We made these choices co-creatively with the Source and now here on earth if we can reconnect to that Source energy it can transform our lives. Living our lives inspired by Source energy is a powerful antidote to the feelings of emptiness that disconnection from our soul creates. This book contains Wayne Dyer's personal blueprint for living an inspired life and finding your true calling.

Reflective thoughts
In "Inspiration : Your Ultimate Calling," Wayne Dyer focuses on the interior aspects of the self instead of outward manifestations such as trying to achieve certain goals or outcomes. Through the interior journey, we find encouragement and inspiration. Dyer is focused less on ego-based approaches to living, instead he outlines the way to connect with the higher self.
Motivation is an ego-based approach that attempts to coerce the universe to respond to our personal ambitions and desires. Inspiration, on the other hand, is about naturally allowing peace and abundance into your life via your connection to spirit.
Our illusion is that we lack or don't have but from a higher spiritual perspective, we realize our infinitude and then there can be no lack - only connection to abundance.
This book deals with a spiritual calling that will appeal to individuals who are seekers. For those who want a ten-step or twelve-step program, they might find this book frustrating, since it deals in abstraction - in things felt in the soul- than a clearly delineated program that is easy to digest. I found this to be the great appeal of this book: it extends our vision bound simple approaches to the source from where we draw. It's more mystical in orientation than your average self-help book.
I also recommend "Nexus: A Neo Novel" which is an amazing novel with psychological and spiritual insights. It's a journey of transformation for Logan Andrews and everyone else drawn to a retreat intended to help them overcome personal pain. Logan journeys from California to Canada to find himself usually it's the other way around. :)
A complicated read
I also managed to read only the first 60 pages despite being a great Dr Dyer's fan. Could have been written in a much simpler way and broken down in smaller chapters. It's more of a read for theology scholars than anyone else. A wasted opportunity, I must admit.
Wayne's Best Yet!
I am a great fan of Wayne Dyer, and have read most of his books. His own fascinating path through life is strongly reflected in his writing.
Of greater significance still, has been the endless debate around the getting/having mind set, epitomised expertly by Tony Robbins, and the spiritual/allowing/attracting state of being.
I ran courses on destiny and life purpose some years ago, and were I to re-visit them, Inspiration would be the new model.
It is his best work yet, and that is some recommendation! A wonderful, life changing work.
