Hard to believe-but this book does really does work.
I finished reading this book two weeks ago and feel like I have forgotten I've given up because I've forgotten I ever smoked. Almost immediately upon starting the book I was motivated to quit smoking, but had to wade through the rest of the book which was a little tedious (it can be rather repetitive), -I even stopped reading it for two weeks because it seemed like a chore. However I then picked it up and finished it in one sitting and am now completely cured of smoking. Considering I was probably not reading it in the most beneficial way and it still worked I am very impressed. I tried giving up once before using willpower and nicotine gum, and lived the worst 10 days of my life-I couldn't sleep, I ate non-stop and I kept bursting into tears. I no longer have any desire to smoke, I haven't had a single side-effect or craving and I have to make a conscious effort not to start preaching to other smokers-but when it is so easy to give up it's hard not to shout it from the mountain tops! This book really is amazing-I think every smoker should read this book. I wouldn't bother getting the audio tapes unless you have an eye or reading problem-the book does the job fantastically on it's own .
Believe the hype!
A few months ago I was complaining to a new work colleague about my smoking habit. I was 25 but felt at least 65 - even a flight of stairs was getting me out of breath, each time I went for a brisk walk I came back sweating. In a word, my life was a right mess, and all because I was a smoker.
Thankfully, my colleague (to whom I will be FOREVER grateful) recommended I pick up this book by Alan Carr. She told me, in no uncertain terms, that every other method of quitting was pointless compared to this book. Gum, patches, inhalers...none could compete with this book.
My natural reaction? Well, I didn't believe her. Self help books don't interest me at all - I simply don't believe they work. Thankfully, out of nothing more than desperation, I went and bought the book.
Read it in two days. Haven't smoked since.
It's a great, great book - how Carr does it I've no idea, but his style is so subtle and his ideas so brilliant that before you know it you're nodding your head like an idiot at everything he says, and you do believe that NOT smoking is actually PRETTY EASY!
...crazy isn't it!
A well written, very important book that EVERY smoker should read! I've felt better everyday from reading it.

I started smoking when I was eighteen and over the last twenty years, I have tried to give up smoking more times that I care to remember without success. I read this book three months ago and since that time I have not smoked a single cigarette and what's more it was truly easy! It really is a revelation. I urge anyone who's a smoker to read this book.
