Customer Reviews
Don't be put off by the cover!
I don't know how I came to buy this book - I could never imagine myself achieving the pose on the cover! There are some further difficult poses inside, but there are also lots of easy ones that make you feel good and I liked the fact that I could pick and choose, there's no pressure to wrap your legs around your head if you don't feel up to it! Even walking with bare feet on sand or grass opens up the meridian points in the feet that connect to the spine, heart and lungs. So even a walk in the park is good yogic practice! Each pose comes with text and fully illustrative pictures and once you get used to them they can be done anywhere. No huge need to roll out a mat and devote an hour to going through postures. Some of them are even fun, like the Archer pose. There are lots of interesting little snippets like the recipe for a mango smoothie and how to stop your chest from sagging in later life!
Forget about excercise bikes and other expensive equipment - improve your body and mind with just this wonderful book.
Yoga For Women
This is an excellent book with an easy to follow format. The exercises are categorized for each stage of a woman's life (pregancy, post natal, menopause etc) The explanations are very detailed, and I like the fact hat the author has included testimonials from women in her book. I highly recommend it to any woman no matter how much or how little yoga experience you have. This yoga book is of the kundalini branch of yoga and therefore has chants and meditations to reach deep within your soul and recharge, relax and re-energize you. She has put together a nice warm up section and has suggested poses that are beneficial to you during menstruation, for helping with getting ready for sleep, wall yoga, floor yoga and standing postures. She also puts benefits and cautions in for postures as necessary. It is a book I refer to frequently for my practice.
