WOW - brainy, emotive and spiritual, all in one book!!!!5
WOWOWOWOWOOOWOWOWOWOOWWWWOOOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOOWOWOWOOOWWOW!!!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER IN MY LIFE! Have I read a book that is so wonderful!! It contains all the arguments for and against the homophobic attitude of the church, but makes the outcome a resounding "GOD IS NOT A HOMOPHOBE!" This book demonstrates that God and human sexuality are not only reconcileable, but inexplicablely, inextricablely (is that how you spell it?) linked, and refutes the bigotry of the church, from a starting point that shares that bigotry. As for the plot, well! It twists, and writhes like an impaled snake, except for when it flows like a brook! (OK, odd analogies, but they make the point!) I won't ruin it for you, but it exposes the danger of homophobia and expounds the myths around homosexual lifestyle.

JUST BEAUTIFUL, A MUST FOR ANY CHRISTIAN READER!

Couldn't put it down5
I'd never read a book like this, dealing with Christianity and homosexuality at the same time. Paul is a teenage guy who is a sincere Christian, with a girlfriend. A guy starts at his school who's also a Christian, but is gay. The story follows their friendship and the tension, angst & turmoil Paul goes through. It's a brilliant read which I think any gay or straight person will be able to identify with, whichever side of the argument you fall on. The story itself is short and very light-hearted, I read it on holiday and couldn't put it down. I would echo the comments of the other reviewers also.

No room for another view?5
I began by thinking this work was an exaggeration, but became convinced of its reality as time passed. This is obviously experience of life in the 'Bible Belt', as lived by someone who in one respect doesn't fit in: his sexuality. The more I read, the more real it plainly was. The main character is wavering between bisexuality and homosexuality, both damned by the near-rabid evangelical beliefs of his community. He meets a similar person, but one openly gay, one who eventually pays the price of evangelically-driven homophobic violence. The 'exit' procedure (becoming 'normal') is dismissed, and a more sensible exposition of the most quoted biblical condemnations of alternative sexuality is provided by Manuel, the openly gay teenager. The thugs who derive some support from this hyper-religious atmosphere see their opportunity, and take it. The book provides a stark condemnation of the excessive religiosity tainting US political and social life at present, and the fate of those who don't conform. Recent history, including murders, presents us with a gruesome background to this story of social/religious intolerance. Our entire society must take it as a warning.
