important, emotional, inspiring book
This is quite simply an amazing book. Sensitive to all concerned, utterly compassionate of parents' views and fears without ever losing sight of pushing for absolute tolerance, respect and peace. It manages to reassure everyone (parents, gay children, other family members, even those with strong religious beliefs) that no matter what they feel they are not alone, they will find relief and they can resume and protect a happy, healthy family life without anyone having to relinquish their personal happiness. We can't all march on Washington, but we can all recognise ourselves and our loved ones in these people. We only get one family and one chance, and this book restored my faith in a family's ability to heal and to not just accept but grow to fully dismiss the misguided and outdated myths and stereotypes that continue to cause so much misery.

Read it, buy it for your parents/children/friends/partners. It is soul food.
