Poet, vampire, murderer, lover, hero, prisoner, slave - Spike has been called a lot of things. But, by the time this fight is over, he'll have one more name: Lord! Or "dust"... maybe we'll just call him dust, considering how it seems things are going in his immediate future. But after enjoying this collection of the four-issue Spike: After the fall series you'll be looking at the events of Angel: After the Fall in a whole new light, courtesy of Brian Lynch and Franco Urru!

Glad to see an official continuation of Spike's story
This graphic novel catches spike's character just as if whedon was writing the script, when actually he had little input to say what he wanted to happen in the story.
If you want to find out what happened to Spike after the series finale then read this.
Recommended to fans of Angel and also i would say to read the first two volumes of Angel: after the Fall before reading this or at least the second volume titled First Night as that story proceeds the one in this book.
A strong outing
As a fan of the story arc of the Angel: After the Fall comics this one was a no brainer. Continuing on from the second volume of the books, this takes us through the story of Spike and Illyria from after the first night upto the events in the first volume of After the fall.
The story reads as a stand alone though does help to give understanding to the motivitations of Spike in the main arc where he understandable has a smaller role to play. The stories flow well together and let the character shine to his best.
Sadly, for me, the art let's this one down with it's inconsistency. Some of the art at the back shows what this could have been.
That all said this is definitely worth spending an enjoyable hour on.
Spinning out of Angel after the fall this fills in some of the gaps.
It is pretty well written and the story fits in well with the Angel series it spun out of, I do not eant to give anything away so my review will be light on plot details. The script is fine, Brian lynch has been doing Spike and Angel comics for a while.
Also Franco Urru has been illustrating both for some time as well. the problem is i find his art hard to like, despite the fact he is clearly a very good artist his pages look chotic and unappealling most of the time.
