Indespensible for getting around Paris5
The Rough Guide Paris Map was indespensible during our first visit to Paris. In addition to the very clear small and large scale maps on either side, the map shows Metro stops and all the usual places of interest. There is a Metro map and a key for finding the places of interest. The map is extremely durable and survived intact throughout innumerable foldings in various ways and being pulled in and out of pockets. The map is also waterproof; and passed the rain test! Lost from a pocket on the penultimate day, we failed to find a satisfactory alternative. I was bereft! Tourist office maps are hard to read and the roads are squashed. Although we also had the Rough Guide book, (also very good) the maps within this each relate to a small area and in no way substituted for the convenience of the map showing one place in relation to another. Don't visit Paris without this map. Extemely good value.

Indestructible Paris5
I can't believe that the best feature of this map isn't made clear in the description. It is made of polyester film, therefore it is all but indestructible. Rain, clumsy folding or stuffing into pockets/handbags will do nothing to dim the brilliance of this fine map.

A clear enough scale to read all the street names, without being too large. Also, being indestructible, it can be folded and refolded to show just the part of town you are in (or searching for!)

There are only a couple of minor gripes. Firstly, the map would be better if it extended a way further north, as only half of Montmartre is shown. Secondly, the Metro plan is too small to read easily, and covers only the city centre.

However, a pocket guide to the Metro is easily found, and I feel it is preferable to a map when travelling the Metro. Try unfolding a large map on a commuter-packed train and you'll find out just how rude the Parisians can be(!) Also, it is never a good idea to effectively wave a big `I am a tourist, please rob me' flag on the Metro.

Previously, on my many visits to Paris (Oooh, get her!) I have always bought a map which I have been forced to throw in the bin once I get home, tattered, rain smudged, and torn. This time, however, I'll be keeping my map, even though it won't fold up as it did when it was new.

Brilliant and Reliable!5
As usual the Rough Guide Map was brilliant! It's easy to use, easy to fold and withstood some pretty heavy rain without tearing, smudging or falling apart!

A must when I travel to any city.
