Dad Manual

How to be a brilliant father

The Dad Manual is aimed at fathers who want to involve their sons and daughters in a variety of projects and activities and also build them traditional play equipment - from go-karts to wendy houses. Getting kids away from computer games and spending quality time with their families is recognised to be a good thing and this manual will give dads (and mums) plenty of inspiration to keep them entertained for hours - whether it's for a weekend, a long car journey or a wet bank holiday. There are projects for all ages of children, with guidance on duration and skills required for each exercise. Each subject is accompanied by clear colour photographs or diagrams and written in a light-hearted, accessible style.

Not Just For Dads4
Being a new dad I decided to try and broaden my skills in the parenting department and purchased this book. This book is not just for Dads, it's a great all round reference to practical tasks that can be applied to any interaction with young children.

There are numerous activities to take part in from building a kite to building a skate ramp. I also found an interesting way of teaching Chess and it is very informative in how to help your child cope with defeat and also how to be a gracious winner.

Some aspects of the book may make Health and Safety workers go cold but I appreciate it's no nonesense talk and the way it makes us deal with the fact that children, like us before them, learn by making mistakes and even hurting themselves.

This can be a fantastic aid for the school holidays, so many different things to try, admittedly for some it assumes we all have a workshop with plenty of tools and equipment, but there are a lot of things that can be undertaken as a project where parent and child can bond over the completion of a go cart or the building of a dolls house.

Unfortunately for me my daughter is only 5 months old so will have to wait a few years to get any benefit from this book. But for now it helped me to find a puncture on my bicycle tyre and showed me how to repair it, excellent!

As I said it's not just for Dads, it's for mums, uncles, aunts anyone who has children they interact with.

The Ideal Gift for Fathers' Day!5
The Dangerous Book for Boys
You probably already think your Dad is the best, like I do, but get him this great manual for Father's Day and he will be even better. It is full of funky activities to get him off that sofa and tinkering with his tools. Make your own stilts, skateboard ramp, magnetic fishing, pirate hook ... - school holidays will fly by. Eye catching presentation with full colour photos makes it really easy to follow and enjoy, and the style is 'man-to-man', with none of that talking down tone. If your Dad is not very handy, don't worry your Mum will enjoy it too, or even your Grandpa, come to that. Years of pleasure in this.

Haynes Brilliant Dad Book4
Just what I wanted for my son-in-law as he was about to become a first time Dad and as he is a bit of a petrol head this was spot on!
