Gotham City is plagued with crime and corruption in places high and low, but one man has taken a stand against evil in all its forms: the dark avenger known as Batman. A rash of horrific murders committed by apparently ordinary people rocks Gotham City to its core - and when Harvey Dent, the horribly scarred criminal known as Two-Face, escapes from Arkham Asylum, Batman realizes he's involved. But Two-Face has plans for Batman, using him as a live test subject for a terrifying new drug, with a grim purpose: to kill his "good" side, and allow the scarred face to reign supreme...The acclaimed Inhumans team of Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee, with Sean Phillips (Criminal), present a dark and twisted tale of psychological horror!

The Best Since Hush
This excellant, new(ish) graphic novel sees Batman and Two-Face engaged in psychological battle. Two-Face escapes from Arkham and uses a serum to make Batman face his own duality and fears, while also threatening to use the serum on the population of Gotham.
We are treated to a fascinating insight into Harvey Dent's childhood with the introduction (as far as I know) of Harvey's brother- who died when they were children.
I really liked everything about this story. Two-Face is my favourite Batman villain and this is one of my favourite Two-Face stories. Batman working alone is such a rarity lately and his solitary battle with Two-Face allows the personalities of both men to be given depth that isn't often there. The theme of duality in human nature run's throughout the tale and no-one is more suited to this than Harvey Dent and Bruce Wayne.
Only the most important of Batman's comrades are featured here (Alfred/Jim Gordon), and I did not miss the likes of Nightwing, Robin, Oracle and Batgirl. For me Batman is at his glorious best when fighting alone, especially when the story is drawn and told this well.
This graphic novel compares well to all but the very best Batman stories (Year One, Killing Joke etc) and for me is the best since Hush. All fans of Batman and especially Two-Face should get this now!
Masterpiece!
This is a superb, well written, gripping psychological thriller. After being disappointed with the recent Grant Morrison penned collections this is everything I wanted from a Batman story - intelligent dialogue, atmosphere and plenty of psychological sub-text. You really get to understand what drives the extent of Harvey Dent's madness and learn that the seeds were sown long before the incident which transformed him into the Two-Face.
The writer, Paul Jenkins is probably best known for his "Front Line" mini series which accompanied Marvel's Civil War and World War Hulk sagas.
All in all another classic which belongs in any Batman fan's collection along with Batman: Year One, The Killing Joke and The Man Who Laughs (along with DVDs of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight!).
Simply a great read for mature readers.
