In his powerful yet compassionate voice, Pastor Rick Warren tells the most wonderful story of all - the story of God come to earth in the form of a human infant. Warren goes back to that day long ago when the baby Jesus was born in the manger. In this clarion call to 'remember the reason for the season', readers are taken back in time to the simple origins of a baby who changed history forever. Warren gives readers an intimate look into his family heritage as he shares the fifty-year-old Warren Christmas tradition of having a birthday party for Jesus. Through stirring imagery and compelling insights, this book celebrates the significance and promise of this cherished holiday.

A timely and accessible reminder
There was a time before our increasingly diverse and secular society that a book like this wouldn't have been needed. The language is simple and straightforward making it accessible to all ages and stages, all faiths or none. This is not a religious book in the traditional sense. The book is divided into three sections of celebration, salvation and reconciliation in the context of our everyday lives.Christmas is viewed not as a once a year event but as the starting point or renewal of relationships with not just others but Jesus himself.
A lovely gift book.I would like to see it in paperback.
Lovely little book
Such a lovely well written little book, with the real view of Christmas. If you find it a struggle with difficult emotion at this Festive Time, then this little gem of a book, I think will bring a moment of peace into your heart.
Purpose of Christmas
I really enjoyed this book. It's a 'gift book' in that it's not hundreds of pages long. Ideal for someone who is asking questions about Jesus. Also an encouraging book for those who know that Jesus loves them but sometimes need reminding! Not to be confused with the Purpose Driven Life,(also by Rick Warren) which is also very good but much heavier going than this.
