Winner of a 2000 Best New Talent Harvey Award, Rabagliati now offers his eagerly-awaited follow-up to Paul in the Country. Continuing the story of Paul, a Quebecois teenager in the late 1970s, as he experiences the first conflicts of responsibility with his desire to be free, this clever and endearing story, told in Rabagliati's crisp, retro-1950s drawing style, was a 2001 Eisner Award Nominee and promises to be one of the top new graphic novels of the year.

Customer Reviews
Teen memories from a talented cartoonist.
This is one a series of graphic novels featuring Paul, whose exploits are clearly based on the Quebecois artist's own life. Being autobiographical, there isn't always the satisfying story arc you might find in fiction. Stuff, pretty much, just happens. Thats how life is. It doesn't happen in three acts. That doesn't bother me though as I find his books charming and poignant pieces of nostalgia.
This though is perhaps the most structured on the books, outlining Paul's adventures as a bit of a spoilt young man, who embarks on a summer job working with deprived youngsters. The drawing is terrific, and the characterisation of the children is especially nice. The story is nicely rounded off in a leap into the present.
Another very nice comic book by this talented man.
