Not A True Keyes2
I'm a huge Marian Keyes fan and ordered this title before it came out, spending quite a bit on International shipping (Keyes books are hard to find in the US). Unfortunately, I was unaware that this was part of a series for poor readers and was disappointed to find a short story, written at about a third grader's reading level. Hints of Keyes cleverness remain but most have been wiped away by the format, which is designed for very easy reading (small words, large type, etc.). I'm an avid reader and whipped through this story in (literally) 15 minutes. I'd recommend Keyes fans skip this book.

should have been an illustrated novel ...2
I am a keen Marian Keyes fan, and eagerly purchase all of her new novels. But this one is very different, and a bit of a disappointment because of it. Firstly it is very short - at 64 pages really only a chapter. Add to that, the MK brand of humour is conspicuously absent - no doubt the story content is partly to blame (although MK has dealt with death before and not faltered at the challenge) but it feels as if the length works against it. There simply isn't the time to develop the quirky characters and sense of humour that usually characterises a MK story. I can't help but feel that it would have been improved by some strong visuals, and that a Terry Pratchett-esque illustrated novel treatment would have provided some depth to the characters. My recommendation - a pleasant enough story, but don't expect a MK classic read or any stand out "fabulous characters - it simly isn't there.

wish it was longer!5
I knew I was buying a very short story, and I wasn't sure what to expect before I started to read it, but I loved it and couldn't put it down. As with all Marian's books, I wished it wouldn't end. I'd love to have been able to read a bit more.
