Customer Reviews

One of 2000s finest and overlooked albums5
Kid 606 is currently one of the most exciting artists working today. His fast paced, aggressive and constantly changing rhythms are exceptional examples of electronic music. This album is a fantastic introduction to Kid 606s work. The standout tracks are, Ruin It, Ruin Them, Ruin Yrself, Than Ruin with its fast beats. The more relaxed, For When Yr Just Happy To Be Alive which is more like the PS I Love You, album and the surreal and very funny, Catnap Vatstep Dsp.

This genuinely one of the most essential albums of 2000, I can not recommend it highly enough. If you are in any way interested in electronic music you must purchase this album, it is a future classic.

Offers much promise when you find out he's only 20.3
Im a huge fan of a lot of the stuff that comes from the Warp records stable (Aphex Twin-Aka , Autechre, Boards Of Canada, Squarepusher aka , Octagon Man aka , Plaid aka , Bogdan Raczynski, Ovuca, Plone, Lfo, Red Snapper, 808 State and Jamie Lidell,) and i enjoy a lot of similar music from other labels.
I bought this cd because the cover looks cool not knowing much about it so when i put it on my stereo when i arrived home i didn't know what to expect, at first listen i found it to be unlistenable at points.
But ive had it for a year now and there are some great tracks on here ("GQ on the EQ","Secrets 4 sale", "Ruin it", "For when your just happy to be alive" and "Catstep/my kitten remix")
This album has a distinct drill n bass sound to it which can be quite jarring but if you like RDJ or Squarepusher should keep you entertained.
Possibly this review hasn't convinced you to buy this album but i would say this is different to anything else i own and he is one of a handful of artists who have sampled their domesticated animals.
Overall this album is very interesting and who could forget that one of the pioneers of of electronica "Depeche Mode" gave him (as well as Octagon Man and Dave Clarke) the single "Dream On" from "Exciter" to remix...........And its a very good mix.
Its worth buying.
