If you are a purist, don't bother. If you have an open mind and honestly appreciate a decent cinematic experience, go for it. The score composed by Dario Marianelli is a particular highlight.

Romantic Comedies tend to be really irritating, but this attempt is quite refreshing, honestly touching and has some very funny moments. You'll never find such a great variety of actors in one film.

I guess I love anything that Hayao Miyazaki does, but still, this film is definitely the best of his. I need not go into world records that it broke, it's just essential viewing

A subtle, moving film about alienation that is set in Japan. This is not your every day 'romance' and should not be judged until it's seen. I pity those that fail to understand this film.

The sets are made out of foil and the most irritating actor of all time has a place in this film (Chris Tucker). None of it detracts from the genius of this relatively simple plotted sci-fi flick! <3

Dario Marianelli's score! Breath-taking! With the same director (Joe Wright) as Pride & Prejudice, the aesthetic element to it is superb. It's quite an "arty" film - not one to watch for plot!

Violent and gritty, this film tells a moving and honest story dealing with racism and repentence.

It is unfortunate that Orlando Bloom was cast as the lead, but he performs adequately enough that the film does not suffer. Worth watching just for Edward Norton's haunting performance.
