Synopsis
When the most famous and influential pop band in the world, the Beatles, broke up in 1970, hardly anyone expected that resident heartthrob Paul McCartney could follow up with another highly successful rock band. With the formation of Wings, however, Paul and his wife Linda did just that. WINGSPAN is a riveting documentary look at McCartney's labor of love which combines a musical history with the McCartney family history. Through rare behind-the-scenes footage, home movies, and intimate family photos, the story of the band who dared to write "Jet" unfolds.

A rare opportunity to hear the story told by the family
This is one of those rare documentaries where you feel as though you have been let inside the story for the first time.Set against the actual news and TV footage of the time, Paul and his daughter Mary talk about what it was like for him to be married and to start a family alongside a new band that was to follow the Beatles. These stories can only be truly told by a father to his daughter and cover how he and Linda battled against the press and the shadow of his former band and are shown with the family's own home movies from the time and fans film taken at hitherto unseen gigs as well as film that has sat in the archives. Great music with songs like Band on the Run, Live and Let Die, Jet, Listen to What the Man Says and so many more that carry you back to remind you of a decade of hair styles and flairs. A DVD that you can still keep watching and each time see and hear more. Great, Rock On.
Wingspan
This is a really nice DVD with Paul giving us some insight for the first time on what was going on from his point of view when the Beatles split up in 1970 and his reasons for leaving the band.
This DVD contains some really nice rare film clips of his career with his band Wings from their conception in 1971 to their disbandment in 1979.
Paul reveals a great deal about his life with his first wife Linda and rightfully gives her credit for what he and her achieved together with Wings.
This DVD goes very well together with John Lennon's "Gimme some Truth" as you get a pretty good idea of the different directions Lennon and McCartney were heading in when the Beatles sadly ceased to be.
A Must Have for Fans of Paul
A very informative video with lots of good footage and music. It was interesting to see Paul's daughter, Mary, interviewing her dad, which added a certain personal element to the programme. It was done in chronological order and started with the breakup of the Beatles and Paul and Linda's wedding. The video details the 10 years of Wings, while also showing many home videos of Paul's family life.
