Good Tribute To The Cavern Club
Features many good songs, although this album is slighly ruined by adding a couple of songs from the 2000's
Michael Lambert
As Liverpool gears up to be Britain's City of Culture, here's where it all happened
Most people know of the Cavern because that's where the Beatles played their early gigs...even at lunchtime, in many cases. Every professional Scouser from Cherie Blair to Edwina Currie claim to have heard them there. Cilla Black (then, amusingly, Precilla White) was on the coat-check and became a star herself. That's how it was. Those were the sixties.
Of course, Liverpool Council was always a byword for incompetence even before Derek Hatton: the Cavern was duly flattened and had to be rebuilt. But rebuilt it was, brick by brick, from the original photos (and some of the original bricks) and this is a tribute to all the acts who have played there. Of course, you'd expect names like Gerry and the Pacemakers and would be unsurprised by The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and The Who...but Queen? Oasis? The Arctic Monkeys? Oh yes!
What a club! What a tribute CD!
Excellent album
Ordered off amazon and my order kept being delayed. they eventuall gave me a dispatch date of 26 october 2007.
Ended up cancelling order and going to hmv.
Other then that the album is awsome and covers what you would excpect the cavern to cover.
