If the info inside doesn't make you bigger, just start lifting the book.
This book is exactly what it says it is- an encyclopedia. It is divided into no less than five "books." Measuring in at about one and a half inches thick, if the info contained inside doesn't help you get bigger, just try lifting the book!
A quick rundown of each chapter. The first book is basically an introduction to bodybuilding, covering a lot of miscellaneous, but important topics. The second book covers the training programs, the third the body part exercises, and the fourth book competing. The fifth and last book covers nutrition and diets.
As you can tell, there's really only one word to describe this book- comprehensive. Would have liked to see a little more on injuries, for example there only about a half page on shoulder injuries, but then again this isn't exactly a sports medicine book either. Weightlifters who have a shoulder problem or rotator cuff tear might also want to take a look at Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff.
An excellent update of the best bodybuilding book ever.
This book is a must-have for owners of the original as well as first time buyers. Arnold has improved and updated all of the book's original sections. He has included a multitude of new photos of older and current bodybuilders. The encyclopedia is a comprehensive education on all aspects of the sport. It retells the sport's history and introduces the reader to the top bodybuilders of all time. Arnold breaks down all the necessary steps to achieve a world class physique with the help of diagrams, photos, and other bodybuilding stars. The book includes several sample workout routines and a detailed section on diet and nutrition. I strongly recommend this book.
The Bible of Modern Bodybuilding!
I am 15 years old and bought this book when I was 14. Since then I have gained nearly a stone of muscle, only from reading this book and following Arnie's instructions. Yes, Arnie did take steroids, but that was in the 70s and 80s when there was no knowledge of the side effects, he explains this and so his workouts are for natural bodybuilding so really the other people who reviewed sould look at the book and get their facts right. I have been doing his beginners routine for about 8 months, and that is how I have got my gains so far. I have looked at loads of other books and tried workouts from my trainers and these ones in the book are the best. If you want gains get this book, I mean you can't go wrong with someone that has won Mr. Olympia 7 times.
