Customer Reviews

Pulse is amazing!5
Just bought the 2cd Pulse album with the 2dvd concert version.

Both the album and dvd are absolutely brilliant! I listened to the album before watching the dvd but even the album alone was outstanding.

If you own this cd then go out and get the concert dvd and be prepared for the experience of Pink Floyd...live and amazing!!!

It would have been 1000% perfect if Echoes (from Meddle) was included.

Highly recommended.

I have to disagree with the earlier comments about 'Time'. I think the reviewer must have been comparing it with the immaculate and awe-inspiring version on DSOTM which is still one of the all time classic tracks ever recorded by anyone. OK the Pulse version does not quite meet the levels of perfection achieved in the studio but it is still pretty good for a 'live' version. I suppose the missing ingredient is Roger Waters, without whom Floyd are not quite the Real Floyd. My highlight is the extended Gilmour guitar work on 'Money'. My one slight disappointment is Great Gig the Sky - on which the female vocals fail to match the iconic voice of Clare Torry on the DSOTM original. All in all this album is well worth owning.

Astounding, Beyond the Heavens......5
This album is a hair tingling journey of Floyd's live performances in the 90's.

For any Rock lover there is a SINGULAR reason why this 2CD live album is a must buy. We'll come to that later.....

Pulse is an excellent live album covering a multitude of classic Pink Floyd tracks from Dark Side of the Moon (DSOM) and onwards. With few exceptions the musical quality is sparkling, fresh and scintillating.

CD1 covers the bands post DSOM music with some particularly outstanding performances, noticeably `Coming Back to Life', `Sorrow', `A Great Day for Freedom' and `High Hopes'.

CD2 Dark Side of the Moon live stirs memories of one of the 70's great albums. The band venture skilfully through the full rendition with one major disappointment: `Time'. This live version is so disenchanting that it is rumoured the real Floyd were on secondment at this juncture. Nevertheless during the Finale everything is rectified........

Which brings us to the SINGULAR reason why one should buy this album:

`Comfortably Numb'.

Already recognised as the masterpiece on The Wall `Comfortably Numb' is taken to new heights beyond the Stratosphere, Galaxy and Heavens on this live album. The four minutes guitar solo by Dave Gilmour is simply the best you will ever listen to. Words are meaningless in attempting to describe this uniquely brilliant performance by Gilmour.
