Editorial Reviews
CD Description
Fourth album from the wild woman of pop follows 2003's 'TryThis'. Continuing with her fusion of pop, rock and RnB, sheclaims the new material is her most personal to date and includes a song written by her father whilst stationed in Vietnam. Produced by Billy Mann (Anastacia), Butch Walker (AvrilLavigne) and Wu-Tang's RZA, among others, the album includes the single 'Stupid Girls', an incisive send-up of the superficiality of pop culture. This dualdisc includes an interview, music video and behind the scenes footage.
Customer Reviews
Great album, forget the DualDisc though.
Possibly Alecia Moore's best album to date,
Compared to other albums I've purchased this year, this album does not disappoint. There is only one naff track, "Fingers" but then again it is a bonus track your opinion may will differ. My favourite track is "Dear Mr President" featuring the Indigo Girls, which I think is a far more powerful and relevant track than say "Stupid Girls".
Now DualDisc, a suggestion do your research as to its shortcomings, look at some of the equipment manufactures sites for warnings about usage. If you wish to put it on your mp3 player you may find it next to impossible, as the CD side does not comply to the CD specification.
It does say CD audio side may not play in all DVD and CD's
Next time I will avoid Dualdisc like the plague.
P!nk certainly isn't dead!
Wow! What a fine CD from P!nk. In fact, it is quite probably her best album yet.
The album is quite an eclectic mix of styles - pop, rock, ballads, a bit of R 'n' B and dance-tinged tracks. I won't comment on all of the tracks, but here are some of my standouts.
Stupid Girls is a wonderful send up of superficiality and a brilliant pop song.
Who Knew is a another great rock-pop song, with a very catchy, hummable tune (and I would think it's a contender for the next single).
Dear Mr President is P!nk saying what she feels about her President and the issues that she thinks are being overlooked. This is a truly magnificent song, and is enhanced by the presence of the wonderful Indigo Girls - an amazing track.
The title track, I'm Not Dead, is also pretty special and a bit different.
Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) is dance-tinged and works really well, and U and Ur Hand is a great song for girls who are fed up with being pestered by men in clubs, when they just want to have a good dance!
To be honest, they are all great tracks, no duff ones, but it would take too long to comment on them all!
You'll like this if you like P!nk's earlier stuff, if you're a fan of great pop music, basically, if you're a fan of music, you should at least appreciate some of the tracks on this superb album!
The Dual Disc gives an added dimension with DVD extras such as the making of the 'Stupid Girls' video and a brief interview with P!nk. It also features all the audio tracks, which, if you have 5.1 Surround Sound will, apparently, sound better than the CD audio tracks.
Excellent - Pink on form
I like this album - not her best, but a definite maturing sound. Makes me look forward to the next album. Dear Mr President is one of the best tracks I've heard in a long time - some great lyrics in there. Sends chills up my spine, things like 'What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away, what kind of father would hate his daughter if she was gay'. Brilliant.
