Synopsis
Before it even appeared on the airwaves, NYPD BLUE was American television's most controversial show in 1993. The program broke new ground and, like its characters Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) and Detective John Kelly (David Caruso), it didn't play by the rules. Weaving nudity and foul language into storylines that tackled issues such as vigilante violence, homosexuality, and prostitution, the cop series became a huge hit with an audience who craved reality-based television. The first season also includes Friends star David Schwimmer in the recurring role of 4B, an unsteady mugging victim. This set includes all the episodes from NYPD BLUE's third series.

FINALLY!!!5
Fans had to wait two and a half years for the third series on DVD. The distributor argued that sales of Series 1 and 2 were not good enough to justify the release of the rest. This was probably due to the constant re-runs on cable channels especially in the US. Finally they came to their senses and offered us a treat!
NYPD Blue is the best TV show ever, and I'm not just talking police drama! Sipowicz (Dennis Franz)is a legend, the rest of the cast are brilliant, story-lines are fantastic with scripts to match...
Over twenty hours of fun and excitement. Can't wait. Bring on the rest!!!!

At Last5
Finally. Like so many others I have been waiting for the release of this 3rd season DVD collection! This is the finest cop show ever made. Steven Bochco is spot on with this genre. The very sad thing with this show is that viewers in the UK have been subject to very sporadic showing of the series, making way for the many reality TV shows thrown upon us. If you haven't seen this show before you really are missing out on engaging stories, mesmerising gritty acting and likeable if not loveable (Andy Sipowicz) characters. This show has risen to a cult status in the UK. I really hope they continue to release the DVD boxsets now the show has finished. Since the airing of NYPD there have been several police, crime, forensic, legal shows but they never seem to measure up to NYPD which consitently feels like the 'Original' of them all. I really do recommend you buy this - you will be hooked. Enjoy!

this season of nypd blue is a little deceptive. after quickly ploughing through the first 2 seasons its been a long long wait for this next installment. this 'ramping' up of expectation can be difficult to fulfill & at first it may seem a bit of a disapointment but this is simply due to the fact that you are now familiar & comfortable with the characters and the opening 2 or 3 episodes are a little slower than usual. this soon gives way to some terrific story lines & the tension builds as the series plays out. all involved are on top form & even this many years on this is edgy, provocotive & controvertial,( one characters racist tendencies come to the fore, tagedy takes place & the darker side of a few begin to be seen),.
the extras are good if not great but who cares? if your a fan then this is essential stuff after such a frustrating wait. if your new to nypd blue then starting with series 3 isn't a disaster but starting with series' 1 & 2 would give you a greater appreciation of what happens, all the characters have a long arc that slowly builds & makes for a depth that few series before or since can match.
this is fully recommended, just be prepared for sleepless nights spent watching " just one more episode."
