Synopsis
Two features. In 'High Society' Porter adds the tunes and Sinatra adds the ring-a-ding to this swinging musical remake of The Philadelphia Story. A prim socialite (Kelly in her last role before becoming Her Serene Highness) finds herself in a the middle of a comic mess when her ex-husband (Crosby) and an amorous reporter (Sinatra) come to cover the preparations for her upcoming wedding. Adding to the tension is her skirt-chasing father, who's also returned home for the ceremony. The resulting confusion and several potent drinks melt the ice princess's frosty exterior. It isn't long before she sees through her society-climbing fiancee, and warms up again to her crooning jazz musician ex-husband. Rare chance to see rivals Crosby and Sinatra together. Includes such hit numbers as 'True Love', 'You're Sensational', and 'Did You Evah'. Academy Award Nominations: 3, including Best Motion Picture Story. Also includes 'Calamity Jane'.

Best ever5
These two DVDs arrived within two days of my ordering them. We already have both of these videos on VHS tape but we are trying to save space so are progressively dumping our VHS tapes in favour of DVDs. I tried the 'High Society' DVD just to make sure it would play properly and I was totally astounded at the superb quality of both the picture and the sound. We do have a new 40" LCD TV but the TV was not in HD mode and in any case even if it had been the picture could not have been any better. I then switched to the VHS tape but this was decidedly fuzzy by comparison. Thank you so much for these DVDs. Is there anything special about them? and if so can you let me know of any others that have been produced to this standard.
