Editorial Reviews
CD Description
Though the title of The Black Eyed Peas' suggests their career coming to an end after over 27 million album sales, it actually stands for 'The Energy Never Dies'. The album's producer Will.I.Am has stated that, if anything, the album is the beginning of a new concept, one reflective of the digital download generation. Musically, the group sticks to their established slick, pop-funk sound, with the lead single 'Boom Boom Pow' standing out as a typically boisterous and dramatic hip-hop fusion.

Not traditional Peas, but still pretty good
Im a big fan of the Peas and loved both their last 2 albums. This one is a little different and I think will be a grower. It's more mature and I think goes back to their original style of Bridging the Gap and pre Fergie days which I wasn't hugely keen on. But its not quite as random and fun as Elephunk or Monkey Business. It's definately a dance album with some major beats so I think will be a great album for the car with the windows down and the sun shining! My general conclusion is its a bit different but I like that. Its good for bands to try something new and develop different styles.
Also, the 2nd disc edition contains 4 new tracks and 6 remixes of previous songs including one for Pump It which I absolutely love. But they are all great and I think for big BEP fans its worth the extra cash.
The beginning of the END
This may not be a popular view, but every time a BEP album comes out I think it's fresh and new, but a year later I can't be bothered with it because it sounds a bit stale to me. Could be that by naming themselves after food, the Black Eyed Peas have got it spot on - as they are masters at producing fresh new sounds, which (in my opinion) have no longevity to them. If you think I'm talking rubbish by saying this, they've actually acknowledged this is true themselves in a commitment they have made to keep shaking up the production of the tracks on this album and coming up with newer versions through their website.
So then, I find myself yet again loving a new BEP album and wondering if this time it'll last.
This album changes style dramatically, and many people won't like it - but probably just as many people will love it. Boom Boom Pow is not a fluke - the BEPs have definitely gone down the synth/dance route - although there are still moments where the old BEPs of Elephunk hang on.
Standout tracks for me include Boom Boom Pow, Imma Be, Missing You and Meet Me Halfway.
This version has a second CD, with new material and remixes. Does this prove their commitment to revisiting their music and updating it? Perhaps so, or perhaps it's just a promotional disc - you can't read too much into it - just know that it's not some half-hearted effort and it's definitely worth the money if you're into the Peas.
Re-invented for the modern age.
I've seen some die hard Black Eyed Peas fans saying that they have sold out with their new stuff, but this is not true.
What is true they have updated their style a great deal during their period of absence, but for good in my opinion.
Newer tracks are more classy and sophisticated in my opinion, and are definitely in style of other tracks that are in the charts in the R'N'B/Hip-Hop style just now, dance-thump-beat is the style that's hitting the spot now, and they have recognised this in their latest album creation.
Still there is still an essence of the old Peas in their new stuff, one track has similarities to Shut Up for instance.
The second CD has some remixes that bring new diversity to older tracks and complete this deluxe addition, and is worth the extra pennies spent to get this 2 CD extra.
This album offers some of all the new pop styles out there and is a rounded and very well conceived group of songs, even if you are only a casual Peas fan you may be surprised at what has been produced in their latest creation, you won't be disappointed.
