Amazon.co.uk Review
Though touted as his first album, Catch 22 is in fact 22-year-old Tinchy Stryder’s sophomore effort. He released his debut Star In The Hood back in 2007, though he’d probably be the first to admit that he was a different person then. In the last two years he’s shifted from underground sensation to chart-bothering pop star, bombarding the radio on a regular basis with pop-savvy grime tunes. While The Streets and Dizzee Rascal may have made grime a mainstream concern ages ago, Tinchy offers an unashamedly commercial take on the genre that even these well known stars lack. Hits like "Number 1" (with N-Dubz), "Take Me Back" and "Never Leave You" sit next to equally infectious tracks like "You’re Not Alone" (which borrows from Olive’s 1996 hit of the same name), "Spotlight"(which borrows the swirling riffs from Timo Maas’ remix of Azzido Da Bass's "Doom's Night")--even a Chase and Status produced version of NWA’s "Express Yourself". Its 18 cuts definitely make it a bit long, and Stryder’s consistent insouciance ultimately creates an aura of superficiality; but all in all Catch 22 is the confident, upbeat sound of another bonafide pop star breaking outta London’s streets. --Danny McKenna
CD Description
Following the huge successes of 'Take Me Back' and the aptly-named chart-topper 'Number 1', Tinchy Stryder releases hismajor label debut, Catch 22. The album's sound is a new twist on the grime-sound, the scene that originally spawned Stryder, with more of a dance-influenced sound than many of hiscontemporaries. Catch 22 is co-written and produced by award winning producer Fraser T. Smith, and is preceded by the single 'Never Leave You'.

Not bad
I expected hit after hit on this album with his first few realeases being really good! But the songs released are by far the best on the album, so don't be expecting any more chart toppers from Catch 22. Still a good buy though, with Never Leave and No.1 being fantastic songs.
For hardcore fans they will find he has moved away from his 'roots' and become more poppy. True, but still very effective and has gained alot of new fans. For me though, the more mainstream, poppy stuff is what it's all about.
Looking forward to some new stuff for the Stryder man, none the less a good second album.
Tinchy is a Star
The first time I heard Tinchy was on Craig David's tune "Where's the love" and I was in awe at this young man from London. I did some research on him and found a couple more songs to listen too. I am still in awe. I am 29 years old and can't stop playing Tinchy's album. I love Number 1 feat NDubz (who I love also), Halo is a dead ringer for jamming, You're not alone, and never leave you. Damn the entire album is great. Did I tell you I live in Barbados. We do not get UK music here which is sad but be sure that I will spread the world of Tinchy Stryder.
amazing!!
i love tinchy, i must admit i wasnt a huge fan of rap & hiphop before i heard tinchys album...my faviourite song is the number one song, never leave you!! rachel in4merz
