Nice player, shame about the menus...4
I purchased this DVD player to match my brand new Panasonic TH37PX80 TV. This combination produces brilliant results from ordinary DVDs. Using 1080i upscaling seems to get best results so far. Films now come to life with more detail, colour, contrast and depth than I ever had from my previous CRT/DVD combo. For instance, watching the opening to 'Blade Runner: The Final Cut' is simply breathtaking.
But .. it only gets 4 stars becuase the set-up & options menus are rubbish - they look amateur, are poorly laid out and are confusing to follow - reading the manual does not help much! Fortunatly you dont need to fiddle much with the menus to get great pictures.

Bought this to connect to my LCD panasonic and see what a HDMI connection and upscaler could do with my DVDs. To date I'm not blown away to be honest. Love my films and was hoping for a little more. Quality is good, but don't see any significant improvement on previous CRT and a quality scart. Just not seeing it. No regrets as the viera link is handy (using just one remote between the tv and player) and got it chipped locally for multi region use. Advice? See it in the shop first and make your own mind up. Bring on cheaper Blu Rays I guess circa 2020!! Close but no cigar I'm afraid.

A nice little player5
I did a lot of web browsing before buying this item. To be honest, the brand name speaks for itself in many respects but what swayed it for me in the end was I was buying a new Panasonic TV and the Viera connectivity was an additional incentive. Anyway, it works well, the picture's good and it's simple to use. I'd be happy to recommend it to friends and family.
