'A brand new series aimed at small businesses, with another four volumes to come later in the year. These cover different subjects to most series and they look great. Ideas, examples, tips and sources of further information add up to a great little package in each.' The Bookseller (March 2007) 'Breeze through these neat little "Business on a Shoestring" books during your commute. "Boosting Sales", "Cash Management" and Marketing and PR" should cover your bases - and if things go wrong there's the optimistically titled "Surviving a Downturn" to get you back on you feet.' The Guardian (2 June 2007) 'Advice and illustrative examples are given for those wanting to make a big splash without a big budget.' Publishing News (March 2007)

From the Author
This is quite unlike any marketing book you have seen before.
At least it should be - we've designed it to be read (as opposed to sitting
on a shelf impressing people) and for small business managers.
We take you through the process of developing a marketing plan for your own
small business. One that will fit your needs and position your company
uniquely. So you don't get the 'ten top tips' from someone who runs a
multi-million corporation. Instead you get real-world examples of how your
business can develop its OWN strategy.
A minimum of jargon, but all based on years of marketing practice and
study...it's even got references so you could use it to support your
studies.
There's also new thinking - based on experience of working in and with
small businesses to make marketing clear and simple.
And, unlike many other marketing books, we don't pretend to know
everything; we also invite readers to keep in touch so that we can learn
from their experiences too, plus there will be additional content online so
it's a book that could last a lifetime...
...for a very modest price. What more could you ask?
Customer Reviews
This book is bigger than it looks
I read this book over a couple of days and then went back through, working through the excercises and suggestions. There is enough information, suggestions and references to keep someone going for quite a while. The information is presented in a deceptively simply manner - breaking down essential parts of marketing into easy, stepwise exercises. I would recommend this to anyone who is running their own small/medium business or about to start up.
I've bought several other books to try and get a handle on marketing and this is by far the most comprehensive and useful.
Rocket science made easy
I find the book very readable; the tone is friendly so the lessons are accessible.I am currently working through, making notes relevant to my venture, as suggested and generating ideas along the way. Theory is tempered with experience and humour. For a novice like me it's like rocket science made easy.
Easy to read and jargon free
I read this book over the bank holiday weekend and was very impressed. For someone like me who has been running a small business for ten years now it's really useful to read something like this to jog your memory, give you ideas and get focused again. Many of the books I have read over the past ten years on this subject are full of jargon and hard work to get through. This was completely the opposite. I'd recommend it to any small business.
