I met a Roboreptile at London Zoo

Reptiles in a tank in London Zoo went face-to face with the first ever robotic lizard on Tuesday. Roboreptile - made by the same people as Robosapien - was put in a tank with real-life lizards to see how they would react to each other. Press Packer James was there to see what happened.

The iguana eating some banana out of Roboreptile's mouth. "The first thing I thought when I saw the Roboreptile was that it looked quite funky for a lizard as it has black and white stripes! I wasn't sure what would happen but I thought it might be attacked by the real lizards. Instead what happened was that the real ones looked at the robot and seemed quite shocked. I don't think they were used to having a stranger in their tank. Then the remote control was used to make Roboreptile move and scream which made the little lizards run away as they didn't like it! They stayed away and were very still after that.

The iguana, which was bigger and not as scared, was just pacing around. When someone from the zoo put a piece of banana in Roboreptile's mouth, the iguana ate it! They got Roboreptile to perform his different modes with the remote control. They made him look angry and then calmed it down before taking it out. Afterwards, I got to play with it outside while it was roaming around. I thought it was really good." James, 10, Letchworth!

Customer Reviews

Great fun for a few hours - Some good features3
First off - I beleive this would make a good gift or gadget for some people.

In my opinion, the Roboreptile has some very good features and is very clever with its sensors located around its head. Plus its tail is very life-like.

The only dissapointment, was that it hardly moves. On a thin carpet or vinyl floor, on standing walk or on all fours, this was the only let down for me.

I havn't personally seen the other products similar in its range (RoboRaptor, RoboPet etc) but if they are as entertaining and move a bit quicker, I would put the extra pennies together and get one of them

Fun enough....4
A bargain at this price, its 90 quid in Argos !! Not the fastest of movers, but has a good tail swish and a variety of actions - my 8 year old was well pleased with it.
