Summer, 1940.

Hitler’s army is advancing towards Paris, and millions of French civilians are on the run.

Amidst the chaos, two British children are being hunted by German agents.

British spy Charles Henderson tries to reach them first, but he can only do it with the help of a twelve-year-old French orphan.

The British secret service is about to discover that kids working undercover will help to win the war.

Editorial Reviews

Review

'It has the feel of something quite big and satisfying... Muchamore's voice is fresh and direct.'

(Daily Telegraph )

Muchamore's plain, punchy, often funny style ... is highly effective... This clever, tense novel is a great way of getting bored boys interested in history.

(Amanda Craig, The Times )

This book was un-put-downable. It gripped me from start to finish, and was just as good as the CHERUB series, if not better!

(Aaron, 14, First News )

'Gripping and compelling'

(- Carousel )

About the Author

Customer Reviews

More, more please Mr Muchamore 5
Muchamore has often been ridiculed for the immaturity of his books, with the simplicity of the language and storylines, often meaning that he is never classed as the 'best' of authors.

Henderson's Boys is his new series, which offers readers a chance to see CHERUB before it existed, with the books showing the lives of 4 orphans, in Nazi controlled France.

Similarly to books such as The Boy in The Striped pyjamas, Muchamore has successfully placed his book into historical context, but has also retained his action-packed, comical writing style, which his fans love.

Without spoiling the book for everyone, it follows the main German advance into France, during WW2. The book shows the futile resistance of the French army, and how the Nazi regime brought terror upon many in Europe.

A book like this should be a must in every school in the country: for every 12 year old, teenager and young adult alike, Muchamore has captured the essence of what a true book should be, and five stars is the least he deserves!

Fantastic5
This book is fantastic. I don't really do much reading but I have read all of the Robert Muchamore books. This book was impossible to put down and I would recommend it to everyone. The ending was a cliffhanger and I am definatly going to buy the the next book in the series, I can't wait for it to come out!

As good if not better than cherub...5
I initially thought that this book was going to disappoint me, as the cherub series seems like a hard one to follow, however this book surprised me. It packs all the action of the cherub series, but the fact that it is set in WW2 makes the story more believable. All I can say is that if you are a cherub fan this will certainly tide you over until brigands mc.
