The area covered is year 6 design and technology, unit 6D controllable vehicles together with basic electric circuits and a section on alarms and sensors ( having said all that my 6 year old son loves it for the fun and exciement it provides when he builds an electric powered car and it goes !! ) As with all Cambridge Brainbox kits there is no soldering or trimming required - the kit uses simple components with press-stud connectors. Customer Reviews
Cars & Boats - Excellent buy
My 7 year old son bought this with his birthday money, and it has been a great hit. The ease with which he can build, and experiment with, simple circuits - using the snap fastener links - is superb. Some of the activities are still a bit advanced for him, but I am confident that the durability of the set will ensure it is still in play when he is ready for the next stages.
Didn't have the desired affect...
I was really excited about getting this for my son, who was 8 at the time.. he loves construction things and his friends have an old electronic building set and he's always playing with it so I thought this would be great but alas the instructions were very complex and even I couldn't build it and I'm good at following instructions.. so it must be for much older kids and it's lying in the cupboard beside all of the other discarded toys :(
