30 fully detailed walking itinerarys, complete with gps waypoints and 1:40,000 colour map sections for every walking route, plus colourful background information; provides everything you need to explore the beautiful landscapes of Western Mallorca. All of this brought together in Charles Davis' inimitable inspirational writing style to produce another classic title in the Walk! series. Walking routes range from strolls up to full '5 Walker' ratings for Getafe, S'Esclop, Galatzo, Es Puntals and Sa Fita del Ram; promising plenty of adventurous walking for a wide range of walking abilities. Charles has unearthed routes not found in other books, along with classics such as Sa Trappa from Sant Elm, S'Arraco and Andratx. Two contested routes are included; Walk 9A Courting Claudia and Walk 24 GR221, both kept open by court order or public action. Charles' writing is so good, you could simply buy Walk! Malloca West as a winter read to brighten up a dark night - but be warned, within a few pages you'll be hooked and getting online, picking up the phone, or hot-footing it down the travel agents, to book your flight/package to Mallorca West. Full GPS Track and Waypoint files for Walk! Mallorca West are included on the Personal Navigator Files CD published by Discovery Walking Guides.

so much to see in the west
I had walked the Tramuntana with Charles Davis book Walk Mallorca North & Mountains, but this time we were based in the west so I picked up Walk Mallorca West. It was a real surprise to find so many 5 rated routes in what I though was a gentle region of the island. Even the family enjoyed some of the easier routes including two different routes to Sa Trappa. Great value, up to date, accurate and inspirational; gets my vote.
Good inspiration, but needs revision
The book offers good inspiration and has a lot of interesting walks, both long and very short. It is in general easy to follow the written instructions, but there are some inaccurancies and in one case we found a serious error (turn left instead of right - not good!). However, the book would benefit from an update, as recent urban development in the area has made some of the suggested tracks and trails disappear. The book is worth the price, but you can't rely 100% on it.
