The Prophet of the New Millennium
Over 70 years ago, Kahlil Gibran's 'The Prophet' changed for the better the way millions of people thought about themselves and the future for mankind. He offered medicine for what H.G.Wells described as "the mind at the end of its tether". Since then the ills that besiege the mind and spirit have grown exponentially. A new cure is desperately needed and Gregory Dark's prophet provides it.
He's a 'must read' for anyone who has fears for humanity, who despairs at the impotence of religious and political leaders and who ends up questioning his or her own sanity.
The new prophet lays out the questions that are relevant to today's troubled world, then gently soothes and reassures us with penetrating and sometimes shattering answers to each.

This is a well written and thought provoking book. If you feel a dis-ease in your life, in what you see around you, in society, in politics, this book can help you. It can aid you to clarify your ideas, it can help you to find your own questions. And finding your own questions is often a huge step. This book could be of great help to you.

The author, an American film producer and director, says that this book of wisdom sayings is intended as a complement to Kahlil Gibran's book The Prophet that was published in 1923. Like its predecessor, the setting is the town of Orphalese and the author writes as the prophet Arkona, successor to Almustafa.

The book is written as a dialogue between the prophet and his interrogators, much like the style of Plato's dialogues. Each chapter begins with a questioner seeking Arkona's views on some issue of human existence, many of which are of crucial importance to us today but all of which are really perennial questions.

The issues that Arkona addresses include, first, the need for quiet reflection. In the pressured maelstrom that is the world of work for most people today, there is little time for contemplative meditation. Arkona then moves on to give his views, under questioning from his devotees, on God, prayer, miracles, truth, the future, education, the nurture of children, freedom, happiness, love, war, tragedy and death. Readers will agree I'm sure that this covers many of the most important issues of human existence.

This little book is a gem of wisdom of which our world is in great need.
