This is the only navigation exercise book suitable for RYA Training courses. It is the only book that uses the new RYA Training charts used in all RYA navigation courses. Suitable for anyone taking a Day Skipper or Yachtmaster course. Questions start for anyone new to navigation and become progressivly more
difficult.

Navigation Excersises
Excellent book for revision of shore based RYA courses. Very comprehensive and well put together. Recommended for anyone interested in navigation.
RYA Navigation Handbook - Highly Recomended
I have just finished reading this excellent book and would highly recommend it. All aspects of marine navigation (with the exception of Astro Nav.) are comprehensively covered in an easy to read manner. Another quality RYA product, well thought out and fully deserving of 5 stars! I have seen numerous other books on marine navigation and this is the best.
A good introduction which lacks sufficient practical examples
This book does a good job at explaining most of the basics concepts of navigation. It covers all elements of navigation in simple language which is easy enough for an interested novice to understand. However, it would prove to be insufficient to support anyone who is studying to pass his/her shorebased Day Skipper or Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster exam. Whilst the book illustrates most of the concepts which are discussed, there are too few practical examples which allow the reader to test his/her understanding. There are also a lot of references to the use of radar for navigation which is a bit of overkill. The book is clearly written at the level of a novice to navigation and it would have been more helpful to explore the basic concepts with more depth rather than confuse the readers with references to the use of radar, a navigation tool they are unlikely to use any time soon. All in all, a good book to read before following a shore based RYA course, but of little value to anyone who understands the basics of navigation.
