Excellent buy, but some issues you should take into consideration
This is by far my best mouse in my house and the best mouse I've ever used.
This is because of the ultra-sensitivity, it's handy sensitivity selection innovation and it's great ergonomic design.
First the ultra-sensitivity, the range it has is 2000 DPI (Very Sensitive) to 400 (Way too slow), somewhere in this range is where I found my optimum DPI which was 1600 DPI and I'm sure you'll find yours. This great range is good for all users.
Second the sensitivity selection, this allows you to configure your DPI presets which you have 5 in total, for example 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000. That is 5 presets each going up in 400s, what this does is it allows you to change the DPI during the game which is an absolute saviour, just press the two buttons near the mouse wheel to change the DPI, 2000 DPI is overkill but good for flying vehicles (E.G: Helicopter in Battlefield 2), 1200-1600 is optimum in my view for FPS, 400-800 is very useful to make precision sniper shots in games as the mouse doesn't fly across the screen with a small movement.
And thirdly the ergonomic design just fits in you hand like a glove, BEWARE it is not so great for left hand mouse users. The bad thing is that it traps dirt/grease/sweat so easily. But the special plastic feet are also great, the mouse moves across my (wooden) desk like me sliding (naked) down a ramp full of oil.
So lets sum up my experience :
The good: Great design, black and silver colour scheme decent (not the silly green/silver colour scheme shown on amazon and on logitech.com), great DPI range to suit all users, great DPI selection (stops me from going to the game menu to change the mouse sensitivity) and it has a great comfortable design.
The Bad: Traps dirt/grease/sweat into a nasty dirt ring on the buttons, not good for left hand users. And it takes a bit of time to get used to DPI settings.
Solutions to the bad: Wash your hands with a BAR OF SOAP as it's better than liquid soap because the original bar of soap gives you grip unlike the liquid, If you sill get dirt, just rub it off with a tissue. Left hand users should stay away or try using their right hand. To get used to the sensitivity, use these presets 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000. Keep normal play between 1200-1600, flying to 2000 and sniping to 400-800. Practice in single player and don't use 2000 DPI for running around and shooting, its seriously overkill.
Over all 5/5 as the problems are easily solved, took me 4 hours to get used to the mouse.
Excellent
I coupled mine up with a steelpad S&S mouse mat and i couldn't be happier. Most of the features are accurately described in the other reviews but here's my take;
Firstly I should probably say that the green colour pictured on amazon is, in reality, a lot darker. So if you were considering spending more on the special edition black version (with case and fake carbon fibre patterning), don't bother.
On another note, for you BF2 / 2142 gamers out there, the 'side scroll' action on the mouse wheel is incredibly handy for switching to grenades or medic / ammo hub. As is the extra button near your thumb (for switching back to your gun / changing fire modes).
The ONLY problem i can find with this mouse is minor: !!IF!! you configure the side scroll to a keypress rather than the side scroll function, it is easy to accidentally type instead of scroll when trying to press the middle mouse button for mouse scrolling. Luckily the gaming button profiles can take care of this if you wish to set them up.
Great in every way, as long as you don't mind cleaning it.
The mouse is brilliant. Despite being wireless, it remains lightweight and as a result comfortable. They achieve this by providing 2 small rechargable batteries, one in the charging station and the other in the mouse. This not only cuts down on weight, but it means if you run out of power, you'll only have to wait 5 seconds while you swap the batteries (which is very easy) rather that wait for it to charge on a docking station.
The DPI adjustment is very useful for games where I need to switch to a sniping mode on the fly, and it seems to be very precise, though 2000dpi is probably beyond usability. 1600 is good enough.
Problem: it collects dirt way to easily. You'll be cleaning it a lot. This is not too much of an issue though. All in all a good buy.
