An Eventful Season for Reds!
This is the definitive record of the 2008/2009 season for Liverpool FC in which the Reds finished second in the Premier League and they also finished with the most points in a Premier League season, the best goal difference, gone through an entire league season unbeaten at home, unbeaten in the league against the so called big four of rival teams Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal and scored more goals than any other team after a season of impressive progress. There is plenty of highlights to cherish including memorable Premier League doubles over Manchester United (including a 4-1 away thrashing at Old Trafford) and Chelsea, two wins over spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League first knockout stage over two legs which includes a 1-0 win in the Bernabeu in the first leg and a 4-0 hammering in the second leg at Anfield which ended in a 5-0 aggregate win, a 2-0 derby win away at Everton in the league, late winners against Middlesbrough at home, away at Manchester City after a dramatic comeback, away at Portsmouth and away at Fulham respectively, a 5-1 demolition away at Newcastle United, a 5-0 rout at home to Aston Villa with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard scoring a hat trick, a couple of eight goal thrillers away at Chelsea in the Champions League quarter final second leg and at home to Arsenal in the Premier League fixture in which the Reds showed good spirit and character in both games and skipper Gerrard reaching a century of goals at home to PSV Eindhoven in a Champions League group stage fixture. This DVD has highlights of all the goals from all the games in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, League Cup and FA Cup including some coverage from the 20th anniversary memorial service of the Hillsborough disaster at Anfield with commentary material provided by BBC, ITV and Sky Sports at almost two and a half hours full of great action and drama and it is narrated by Guy Mowbray. This will go down as a very entertaining DVD for neutrals and Reds fans alike like myself who will want to watch some great goals and drama that is likely to put you on the edge of your seat in amazement.
The sequels will be better
An encouraging work from this talented director, hinting at better things to come in future years. A terrific opening gets hopes raised and, although the outcome is somewhat disappointing, this work is his best with this young, skilled cast - which the director put together on a budget much less than other productions enjoy.
Stay tuned for a hilarious scene set in Manchester, where the young cast storm into a supposedly impenitrable fortress and humiliate the cocky locals (look out out for an hilarious cameo from a Serbian 'hardman').
Fantastic product, quick delivery!
Would have preferred a two-disc version, that's how good this was! There wasn't enough room for general highlights, and no highlights that showed how good Pepe Reina was this campaign.
But apart from, simply great!
