Synopsis
PUNISHER - WAR ZONE is the third screen appearance from Marvel Comics' angel of death, and continues the saga of Frank Castle, a normal New York City citizen turned Mafia-slaying vigilante following the murder of his family. Six years after the tragedy, Frank is still waging war against organized crime in New York. After he ambushes a party for an aging mob boss and turns it into a bloodbath, the battle moves to a recycling warehouse where Castle pushes gangster Billy Russoti (Dominic West) into a swirling vat of broken glass. During his escape, Castle accidentally shoots one of the FBI men who have arrived on the scene. Russoti undergoes plastic surgery, but after seeing his badly disfigured face for the first time, he shoots his surgeon and dubs himself "Jigsaw." While a deeply regretful Castle attempts to make amends with the widow (Julie Benz) of the agent he has slain, Jigsaw rallies an army of criminals in an attempt to take down the seemingly indestructible Punisher.

At last The Punisher has been done with the violence and gore level that do justice to the Marvel comics.
I have the first Punisher movie that starred Thomas Jane and John Travolta which I enjoyed but I felt it lacked blood and not enough cool death scenes. I am a big gamer as well as being a film buff and got the game The Punisher on the PS2 in which you kill baddies in many different fun ways with lots of the red stuff. I am so glad that the director Lexi Alexander has given us The Punisher as he should be done at last and yes the story might be a bit silly but it least it has a story, unlike that pile of rubbish called Shoot Em-Up which made my brain switch off. The main villain is called Jigsaw (Billy Russoti) and he is a bit over the top and funny, very much like a Batman villain really. I know what people are thinking Jigsaw thats the same name as the bloke from the SAW films but, don't forget The Punisher comics were around way befor those films. Ray Stevenson does a most excellent job in playing the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher. The Blu-ray transfar is top notch and the special features are good. Hollywood please take note as this is how a gory action film should be done at last with some substance and cool deaths.

Being a Punisher fan, I was rather looking forward to seeing this version, I enjoyed the other two attempts but something was missing, not any more.
If you enjoy reading the Garth Ennis Punisher title you will love this movie, the violence is excessive, over the top and works very well, just the same as the printed version. This is what Punisher fans have been waiting for and if you like action movies without the comedy bits you will like this too, although if your a bit sensitive I would stay away, not really a girl or date movie!
On the whole a great night's entertainment.

The Guilty will be Punished
Here is a Film which truly conveys the Punishers image as it was originaly intended in the Comic Books,a remorseless Killer,with a huge arsenal of deadly weaponry,and absoloutley no mercy for the guilty.This second helping of the Punisher sticks very very close to the persona created by Marvel Comics,and is a hugely enjoyable film.The violent and bloody action comes thick and fast,and the bodycount just keeps on rising..Ray Stevenson as the Punisher certainly does justice to role.All round very good performances from the Lead Villain and his henchmen.A hugely enjoyable action packed blast fest,but also very well directed,and well acted.I really enjoyed this Film,and anyone who really enjoys a great action movie will be sure to like this Film.
