Slide scanner
I have a large number of slides dating from the early 70s. I bought this scanner to convert them to digital, to store and view them on a computer. The same scanner is also sold under other names: Luminex and Zennox.
The operation is indeed quick and simple but the quality of the scanned pictures leaves a lot to be desired. Despite their age my slides are in good condition. When seen through a slide viewer the colours are as bright and true as ever and the focus is sharp. However, the scanned images all appear fuzzy and have lost their depth of colour. In particular the reds have all but disappeared and everything has a blueish tinge. OK, I can use the image editing software to increase the red, but this of course affects the whole shot. The end result is nowhere near as good as the originals.
If I'm doing anything wrong, I'd be pleased to hear your suggestions. As it is, I plan to use this scanner just to back up and catalogue my slide collection. I will then select from this my favourite ones to get professionally scanned.
Plustek Optic Film 7200
I have acquired this item four days ago. Complicated set-up and unclear accompanying litterature, even the quick install text is not clear. The first photos I scanned are not of the quality of the originals slides especially regarding the sharpness and the colors, even after corrections. I have still to get rid of a text ''LaserSoft Imaging'' that appears several time accross my scans. Not too happy but after some time I might get to make it work properly. Slow scanning is also a problem. It takes about 1mn all in all per slide.
