About the Author
Ann Maurice has gained a massive following as Channel 5's House Doctor, impressing the masses with her ability to transform unsaleable homes into hot properties, and has single-handedly introduced 'home staging' to an eager British public. As well as her TV work, she enjoys a flourishing career as an interior designer, but she began her professional life selling real estate for 13 years. Thus she has both the creative flair for decorating makeovers as well as the hardheaded, insider knowledge needed to get a house sold.
Customer Reviews
A sellers MUST HAVE book
Although this does contain some of the information from Anne's "Best of House Doctor" book, it also contains added information that proved to be incredibly useful.
I used her tips and tricks and transformed a family member's house into a buyers dream home. She has a gift for neutralizing rooms in such a fashion that they exude relaxation and personality but without OVER personalizing a room. Literally, your home will 'speak' to each buyer so that they can say, "I could absolutely see myself living here."
For a fraction of what the sale price is and oodles of elbow grease you can make your home appeal to a greater number of buyers and even pull in an added profit, as we did
Only suitable for the completely clueless
I cannot work out who this book is aimed at - it does nothing more than state the obvious. The people who are likely to make the effort to find a home interiors book won't need it, and those who might benefit from it probably won't seek it out. There is nothing in this that a hundred home interiors programmes on TV have not covered ad nauseam. It is also patronising in its tone - its American author's style might go down well in the US but is grating to British ears. Also, it may come as a shock to her but the Brits also know a thing or two about interior design!
